The Camp Caroli Story

A guy from the south of Sweden falls in love with the special beauty of the lifestyle and nature of the north.

He decides to stay, buys his house at the lake and builds guests houses to start his own activity camp to share his passion for Swedish Lapland.

Stefan.

Owner and founder.

"After having worked and lived in the Caribbean back in 2013 I had realized 2 things, one was that I missed Sweden, two was that the tropical weather was not for me.

I needed to head back to our arctic cold nature!

Said and done, I packed my bags and moved back when I got the oppertunity to start working at the fantastic Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi.

There I was in charge of the breakfast, lunch and the lounge where I met people from all over the world.

After a few seasons there I felt that I needed to try something new.

This time I went even further up north to work in Björkliden, which is right next to Abisko, "the best place in the world for northern lights watching" according to The Lonely Planet.

It was when working there and having seen the tourism grow in the area the idea of starting

Camp Caroli was born.

This was in the begining of 2017, and in December the same year we could welcome our very firsts guest at the camp!"

With such a heavy heart leaving Camp Caroli after experiencing the best times of my life. I would like to thank Stephan and Daniel for being such a superb and understanding Host. They made my holiday a better one together with the family. I really appreciate the effort and It is highly recommended for other to use their services for a lifetime holiday. I got the best Northern Light experience with them. 3 out of 4 days I encountered the Northern Light. They make it bearable for a tropical family like us with a camp fire burning. They went out of the way to go to City Centre with VIP tour and seeing the main landmark at Kiruna for free... They are not calculative at all and they even bought handwarmers for my kids with their initiative after seeing my children having a difficulty to bear with the coldness.

Stephan and Daniel, me and family are grateful to you for making our Holiday a special one.

Guest reviews.

The camp is perfectly situated, not far from Kiruna, but close to a lake. Everything was very peacefull and quiet. The perfect place to see nothern lights ! No light pollution at all ! The host, Stefan, was very kind and welcoming. And the cabin was perfect for 2. If we return to Lapland during winter, we will stay in this camp !

Facilities were amazing - place was clean, wifi was fast, tour options are great. Stefan and Daniel are 2 of the nicest guys we’ve ever met and they genuinely care and put in the extra effort to make your stay as great as possible.

We just returned today from Camp Caroli and we can highly recommend a stay there, up North. Stefan and Daniel know what hospitality means and are very helpfull and enthousiastic to show you their country. Stefan came to pick us up at the airport and brought us back, which wasn't easy because it was late in the evening and very early in the morning. The cabin is very cosy and warm and has everything for a nice stay. We did the dogsledding tour (must do!), icefishing and wilderness safari. Each was worth it! The last night Stefan and Daniel took us to Björkliden (near to the Norvegian border in the Mountains) to see the most magical Northern Lights ever! We returned to Belgium with a huge smile on our face. Superb stay. We'll be back! Catherine L., Belgium
